In this story the characters are the narrator, the main character, Max, Philip, and Mr.Brenkman. In this story the narrator is very acts all tough around his frienIn thids Max and horse. He is determined to make it to the next level in boy scouts. Max is pudgy, round, and likes to talk a lot. Philip on the other hand is tall skinny and just like his friend he likes to be the best. On the other hand scout master Brenkman, is honest and trustworthy. Not only is he very trustful but he also trusts other people. All three boys are very similar in many ways.





There were many events that happened in the book Scouts Honor .Though main highlights were first, the boys, Horse, Max, and the narrator ( Avi as a kid) decide to go camping in the Palisades to earn a badge in Boy Scouts. On their way to the Palisades Horse forgot his mattress that he brought from home, at the train station.So, Horse and the narrator jump off the train before it leaves but Max gets stuck onboard. Then, Horse and the narrator have to wait for the next train so they can get to Max. After they are done riding trains they have to cross the Brooklyn Bridge to get to the forest. On their way across, Horse accidently drops his mattress in a huge puddle. When they finally reach the campsite, Horse and Max build a lean to out of branches, while the narrator builds a fire. When they finally get the lean to, to stay standing up they open a can of beans to eat for their dinner. Instead of eating the beans, they start throwing them at each other. Finally, they decide they are cold, wet, uncomfortable, and covered in beans, so they choose to quit and go home.



In the story scouts honor the narator(Avi) a nine year old tender foot scout. Is trying to move up in rank to show everyone he's tough, but to do this he has to camp out on the outskirts of the city. he then goes with his friends to find out if they really are tough enough to be scouts.
With this story the writer used much alliteration, hyperboles,
and similes, for alliterations there were phrases such as puny pin or flickering flashlight. As for hyperboles there was a trillion miles away, I’ve been ready for years, twice his size, and took forever. She also incorporated a simile into the story. Which was “it looked like a noodle factory hit by a bomb. With these literary devices the Arthur helped to give the story voice. as well as giving the story voice the many literary devices helped to describe the setting emotion
